Better than a Boyfriend Bakery is owned and operated by MayLing Chim. I am a professional pastry chef who has been in the industry for over 20 years.
My love of baking was born when my dad taught me as a child to make an apple pie from scratch with apples picked from the tree in our yard. Through the years I have honed my skills by cooking for family and friends in addition to cooking professionally. I regularly take classes at the San Francisco Baking Institute in order to keep my skills sharp and learn new techniques. My attention to detail and perfectionist nature has made me a talented pastry chef.
I truly enjoy working with all types of clients to create a memorable and tasty event. Whether a small celebration cake or a wedding for 200, I enjoy the challenge of working within all types of budgets. I believe in only using the highest quality and freshest ingredients and enjoy incorporating locally grown items. I delight in the small, personal touches like homemade candied peel, edible gold leaf, or royal icing decorations in your event colors. All desserts are baked right before your event to insure they will be at their best. These are the details that will make your special celebration and your desserts standout.
